Description

Captain Jake's Canned Albacore Tuna - premium fish caught off Oregon, USA.. Condition is New. Shipped with USPS Priority Mail.
A 12 Can case of 6 ounce cans. The cans are BPA free.  Each can is filled with six ounces of albacore with a little sea salt. Nothing else.
There is a big difference between our albacore, and what you find in stores. I caught these fish and had them canned in a USDA approved cannery. I selected smaller fish, that have higher body fat, meaning more healthy fish oil and better flavor. The fish are filleted by hand and packed by hand into the cans right here in the USA.
Most of the albacore you will find in stores are caught off the coast of Asia. These fish tend to be much larger, which allows them time to accumulate mercury and lose body fat and flavor.  I select small fish for canning that taste much better and are better for you. We catch these fish by hand, one at a time using hand lines or poles. There is no bycatch (catching other species of fish) in our fishery  because the boat is always moving, and the lures are never more than a few feet below the surface.
Another big difference in our fish is the way that it is cared for. When landed, the fish are bled immediately. This takes away the strong, fishy taste that you find with some tuna. One more thing that is really cool: Ingredients - All white meat albacore tuna, sea salt.  Nothing else is added. No "water, soy, vegetable broth" like other brands.
Last thing (I could go on and on, but I won't). Don't drain these cans when you open them. There is literally nothing put into the can other than 6 ounces of premium albacore tuna meat and sea salt. The liquid that is in the can is the fish oil that cooks out of the fish during the canning process. This has tons of flavor and is really good for you. Always just try a bite first by itself, and be sure to dip your bite in the fish oil in the can. Dump the whole can into a bowl, and stir the fish oil right back in to the meat.
This is a great option for long term storage. The FDA guideline for best by date is 5 years from the time it is canned. As this fish ages, it soaks up the oil that cooked out during canning, making it taste even more fantastic. Where I live, our here on the coast, lots of people buy fresh and can it themselves. The fish will still be great tasting even after the 5 years, but the FDA makes the rules, so we can only say 5 years.
Hope you try it. I know you will love it.
